Smile Psycopsis Kalihi alba 'Green Valley'

Here is my Psycopsis Kalihi alba 'Green Valley'. Chris has one but I don't know if his blooms for him. I'm sure he'll say when he sees this. And this is fully open. The lip does not open any further.

My bloom is on a spike that is over 2 years old. It first bloomed for me on it on July 23, 2014. It stopped blooming in August of 2015 and resumed blooming on it on May 6, 2016. This is the second bloom since it took its break. Since this one came to live in the asylum, it has grown only one new pb and leaf back in 2015. Both are smaller than the previous growth. I repotted it in February of this year. It has grown a bunch of new roots which is good for Psycopsis. I did buy a Psycopsis Mendenhall when I was new to orchids. At the nursery, Hannah wouldn't sell me one that hadn't anchored itself in its pot. So the new roots are great to see.

Nice! I cut the spike off mine when I got it. It was in very mushy sphagnum so had to repot and didn't want it to use precious energy keeping the spike alive. Hope I got it right!

It will grow another when it is ready. Is it firm in the new pot now? I think they would withhold growing a spike until it is secure in its pot.

It is interesting to see these 2 alba forms posts/images next to each other. Fairly close except the other one opens the lip flat.

It is firm in the pot but it didn't have much of a root system and the pseudobulbs were a very shriveled. What I've seen with my other psycopsis is that they grow a spike and when that matures they satrt getting new leaves and bulbs.

I kept wondering what im doing wrong, why im having a hard time growing new bulbs.

    Now i understand.

I think they also dont like being moved or repotted a lot. Am i right?

I've heard the same thing Jervis but so far haven't had any problems. I just repotted all three of my papilio last week so keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes, I do believe they don't like to be disturbed. I only repotted mine due to the media being horrible.
