Still an odontoglossum, not an oncidium. Sold to me about 18 months ago as "species nova" ( i.e. a newly discovered species ). I had heard of it , long ago,( actually first described by Lindley in about 1850 ! ) so took that with a pinch of salt , but have never seen a plant or flower or heard of one before, so I bought it anyway. A good sized plant, lots of growths in an approx 5 or 6 inch pot. Has grown well, now has 7 spikes at various stages.
The flowers are a brilliant white - I can see them at dusk , on the bench.
Obviously closely related to O.cirrhosum, which is usually seen as pink with spots, but I did have an alba form, not sure if I have killed it yet - certainly a very tricky species, or more likley I got the culture totally wrong ( replacements are high on my wish list ). But thios one is much easier, or I have got it dead right ! . Actually all I have done is water it at intervals, perhaps not quite often enough, as the older bulbs are a bit shrivelled - or perhaps that's what it needs ! Whatever, will continue to treasure this lovely orchid.
