    Default Yellow Oncidium

This is one I picked up in our society raffle last January labeled as Bllra. Big Shot 'Hilo Sparkle'. Obviously it wasn't that but I like cheap plants so took it anyway. I think its a species but there are so many similar ones I can't decide which. Any thoughts?

It looks just like my Oncidium Sweet Sugar (it doesn't have a clonal name on the tag, just the grex), but as you said, it's a pretty typical yellow Oncidium, so there are a bunch that look very similar.

Definitely not Onc. flexosum; those are tiny. More like something I saw named Onc. Kandyan Dance, or something like that. Not sure of the spelling.

I don't know Yug, IOSPE describes the flowers as being 3/4" to 1 1/2" [2 to 3 cm] across, These are about 1 1/4 so within that range.

Yeah, it may be that after all. I thought it was much larger from the photo.

It is beautiful, whatever the actual name. I'm leaning toward Oncidium flexuosum too.

    Cheers,

In my experience O.flexuosum is a rampant runner and has flat pseudobulbs.
    O. bifolium is compact and has rounded pleated pseudobulbs with the two apical leaves being more pronounced.
Both species have identical flowers at least from what I can see in my own plants and match the flowers of your plant perfectly.
For me O. flexuosum flowers in the spring (in spike now) whereas O. bifolium flowers late summer/early autumn.
I see influences of both of those species in your plant.
Its a nice healthy looking plant.
