This one has a whole lot of plant for just a few flowers. This is a first bloom though, so it might improve. You'll note in the background that this plant was knocked onto the ground for long enough to undergo a savage bunny attack.

You longtime members have plants I've never heard of; this Ilonara has cool flowers and seems to have nutritious leaves. LOL. I keep hearing people say that a plant's flowers can improve as it ages. Why would that be?

They were killer rabbits. They had big fangs!

LOL - Mehera, Sue has weird plants!

As a plant matures, it has better energy reserves when it comes time to produce flowers. That means it can put more effort into getting the flower right. First blooms are often smaller, less floriferous, possibly inferior form, and as i mentioned recently with my Phrag Living Fire, the plant may not be able to sustain the bloom as long as it will when it grows a bit more.

Nice color on those, Sue! I love the lip.

Hey Sue, that is a cool bloom! I have a couple of bunnies living in our front yard. They cannot get near the orchids, so they are entertaining not like yours.

    Cheers!
