Yeah! Kind of one of my other hobbies... I like to get tattoos that are tasteful though. Not skulls and such. Actually the arm with the tatt in the picture is the arm that I am going to get a sleave done with all of the schomb flowers that I currently have in my collection. Right now I am just looking for the right artist to do the job.

That is so cool--and so brave! You'll have to show us as it progresses. :-) The right artist would make all the difference, but all I know is from the tattoo shows on TV. Maybe they'll let you pay them in orchids! LOL!

    Krull violaceas
Do you mean the 1,s from Bodens ?
The "special" violacea's are still on the small side so maybe next spring/summer to bloom them.

Violacea 'Krull's Navy Blue' AM/AOS is the breeding stock for a lot of Phal violacea seedlings and flasks here in the US that hope to achieve the recessive indigo coloration you were looking for in your seedlings. That's what I meant. I believe all of the blue violaceas work their way down from the original breeding of Michael Ooi of Malaysia.

I have a cross between 'Krull's Navy Blue' x 'Crystele' that is setting it's first spike right now. I can't wait to see how the flowers turn out.

Wohoo! Be sure to post a pic, Aaron! Even those that aren't blue can have a lovely saturated violet, and some will even bloom out white! It's too bad the blues get so over-hyped that the other color forms get disregarded.

The way it was explained to me is that a blue violacea actually has to do with the ph in the plant/flower. I was told that by a friend, and am not sure of how factual that statement is.

Hmmmm - that works for hydrangeas, but I don't think it holds for orchids. It might impact the depth of color, as do many other environmental factors. With hydrangeas you can actually decide whether they are blue or pink by how much acidity there is....
