    Default My monster Bellina

I just wanted to show a pic of my monster bellina. I haven't seen very many as large as this one. The newest leaf is about 15in long. Does your rival in size? Please post a pic! Enjoy!

Omigosh, Aaron! How long have you had that beast! Yours gives 'big-leafed' orchids a new meaning!

By they way, my Penang Girl bloomed for the first time this spring (took the spike 6 months to grow 4"!) I've moved it to a different location and the green spike is now yellowing. Is that an indicator that it doesn't like its current culture?

I wouldn't say a mini, but it doesn't put out many flowers at a time.

See... it's that strange brew that I use to feed, I swear! I have had this one for about 6 years, grown from seed. It could be that your plant doesn't like it's culture. What do you have it potted in? I use course bark chips for all of my violaceas.

    Hi Gin,

Mine is done too. But the flowerless spike remained green until just recently. The only thing that's changed is less light.

I thought the bloomless spikes remained green, which is making me think it didn't like the change.

    Any thoughts?

It is a relativly small growing species. I don't know!? I bring plants into my greenhouse, and they go wild! I don't know what it is!

I thought they were always petite little things; the ones I have seen always have been. Aaron's is astonishing--those big gorgeous flat leaves. Makes it clear what the heritage of some of my hybrids is.

Is that you with the fancy tatt in the picture Aaron?
