Aaron, excellent bloom! I'm assuming it's a first bloom of a seedling? How many seedlings did you bloom before you got a blue?

What's the cross? I'd love if you could PM me your source, as well. I recently bought four different crosses of seedlings from blue violacea parents, and find it interesting to trace who's doing what, with what results.

Steve, was this the shade you were hoping for with yours?

The cross is 'krull's navy blue' am/aos x 'crystelle'hcc/aos. I'll have to get back to you with the source. I have to look back in my records. They were offering the fask all over the country for a rather high price, but I think that one flower is well worth it. I have bloomed out 15 from the batch and this is the first with this shade of color. So of course me being me... I had to back cross it with one of my huge violaceas that had a nice huge white flower. Hopefully, I can get at least one really big flower/plant out of a couple of flasks. Only five years or so until I find out! I'll get back to you with the source Julie as soon as I find it.

Nice! I picked up four seedlings this summer of different blue x blue violacea parents. Don't know if it's enough of a sampling to get a blue offspring, but it was all I could afford!

Lovely, I love the contrast of purple with yellow.

I saw this little guy today, and just recognized the color change. It must be from the orchid sex that it had last weekend. Not a bad color change though!

Is that a violacea as well? Almost looks like a bellina.

It's the same plant from the begining of the thread. I guess the flower is just fading because I crossed it back, and the flower is on it's way out. Although, the flower still looks good, and it appears that it will hang for a while longer before drying out completely

Wow - that is a big change! Didn't realize there was sex going on at your place. Er...orchid sex, anyway... Did you self it? And no, that won't make your orchids go blind!

No, I back crossed it onto one of my giant belinas, and it onto this one. I am hoping to get at least one giant plant with this color flower

Quite cool! The cross would be a Phal. Samera. Wouldn't that just confuse a taxonomist trying to determine which species it was!
