    Default Two favorites

Two of my favorite blooms - one, Brsdm.Shooting Star 'Mustard', because is smells wonderful and is one of the few oncids to bloom for me in my windowsill. My guess is the windowsill location is the reason for the twisting of the blooms??

And two, a NOID pink phal, because she was my first orchid, and because she blooms and blooms and blooms. I thought she deserved a pot with personality!
Remember the discussion of how the supermarket orchids are the decline of serious vendors? Well, if I hadn't started there, I wouldn't have gone on to support real orchid vendors.

LOL - I love the pot, Sarah! And the Phal is very pretty!

I wish my Shooting Star would deign to bloom. It's big and healthy, and just taunts me with nothing more than green leaves. The twisty flowers are probably caused by the pot being turned while the spike developed.

Once the spike starts to grow, try and maintain the pot at the same angle to the light source, if you want your flowers to orient themselves uniformly.

I second the pot...where did you find it?

I have Shooting Star 'Black Gold' and it blooms in phal light for me (not too demanding)...

The pot came from a small nursery we visited while installing the daughter at OSU in Corvallis, OR - that was two years back, so uhh....come on memory work, WORK! Sorry - I'm drawing a blank

If anybody would be interested, when we go back to Corvallis for the homecoming game in November (GO BEAV'S !!) I will pick up a few and put them on Orchid Bids - I think the cost was in the neighborhood of $10.
