    Default Hybrid Harlequin Phal

McJulie's post got me thinking about this guy. It's Phal. ( Golden Peoker x Chimel Budda ) x ( Sogo John x Talsuco Glory ). The photo is a shot of the flowers it came in with back in summertime. With the shot of 60deg nights right before it came inside for the winter, each of the two cut spikes is now starting to push. I'll try to post update photos in a few months, when the new flowers open. I love the big round petals. Flowers are also very waxy!

Sorry for the mediocre photos, they were taken in my hallway, without good lighting...

Aren't these harlequin types fun? This is another pretty one. Sounds like it loves your conditions--so you grow them outside in the summer? Wish I could do that.

Nice bloom Jrod! I love how bright it is! I like the way these phals have a more solid appeareance when the temps change. The same plant might have blooms with lots of spots from a warm bloom and be a more solid mass of color on the cooler temp blooms.

BTW, I don't see anything bad about your photo! Very clear. Nice work.

    Cheers,
    BD

That is very nearly the same as mine! Mine, however, is the tiniest of plants. Almost too little to be producing blooms, but Phals are amazing in that respect!

Thanks for sharing your picks, Jrod!

The funny story behind this guy is that I tried not to buy it. I saw it accross the room at a large retail store, and loved the flowers. I went and did the rest of my shopping, and it was still there, so I picked it up. It was potted in pretty sad medium, and still sort of is, so it's getting a nice repot this weekend. I'll sacrifice new spikes for overall growth, if I have to. It's a good strong plant, though. haha maybe not as strong as my Sogo David, which refuses to quit blooming (two spikes just down, and two more coming on)...

harlequins are really a beauty on its own... some can just have different patterns even in the same plant....really neat..
