I wish they all could be "perfect" but this is a first time bloomer.

    Hi JimBob,

I was thinking of a great thread idea. If you could post photos of Phal form, noting what's considered good and what's not, it would help us better judge what we see.

    Hi Steven-

I'll try to clarify what JBO and Diane were refering to...just please don't let all the jaded long time orchid growers that post here and at other forums discourage you from posting pics of your blooming plants...You Go Boy with your orchid growing self in Idaho!...

I don't know what you are thinking, but it is a pretty bloom. Now you only need more flowers on the spike then you will see!!!
    Cheers. Hoa.

Thank you for your kind words and information. I will not stop posting pics and I think I knew all of that.

The only thing that bothers me about those sorts of comments is when someone posts a picture for FUN and does not ask for critiquing or about award-worthiness. Then someone says something like, "I wish it was, or it could be "better." It cannot be either because it is what it is, period, and could not be changed even if someone wanted to.

Maybe there needs to be a forum just for people that want to know about the award-worthiness and critiquing of their flowers? Nah, just enjoy the blooms and don't do it seriously unless it is asked for.

Easy, there... you did ask what could be better about the bloom... If you ask here someone will answer, in fact everybody will answer if they get the chance. I like your bloom as is. I like all blooms as they are, even ones that could be "improved". I love my catts but would be thrilled if they were the quality of Hoa and Liens.... They aren't, but I'm not throwing them out!!

I don't mean to be nasty ( well not too nasty anyway ). My original post did not request such information and the "request" you mention was retorical and in response to his implication that it could be "better", hense the quotes.

I also frequent bonsai boards and people are constantly volunteering "improvement" options without them being requested. I understand most are just trying to be helpful, but it sure comes across otherwise most of the time, espcially when not requested.

Maybe my response will be better understood now? I hope so.

Everyone, please enjoy the posted flower pictures for what they are.

Yes I notice bonsai boards are always doing that and they draw pictures too! I can't imagine us editing your bloom to be ideal LOL.
If I ever posted my bonsai I could imagine how many suggestions there would be to make it perfect. They are all mass produced shrubs in a pot right now in their perception probably. Too bad after cutting off a branch, it will take years to regrow a new perfected one in the ideal position under my growing my conditions. I never post on them because my bonsai hobby isn't quite as strong as my orchid hobby. My hobby probably hasn't grown as fast because these trees grow so slowly indoors...If only I live in flordia and I could grow them outside

BTW I like your bloom the way it is, especially its texture!
