Just went to the local orchid pushing supermarket and behold what i dug up, a Phal. Mini Mark for 10$. It didn't have the clone name on the tag but as far as i can see from a quick picture search it is 'Sunsplash'
Edit: Oh btw. 'Sunsplash' has a JC/AOS right?? (ans what does JC mean? )
And it is lovely!
Beautiful ! wish I could find one like it here . Love the orange on the petal edges . Gin

Pretty phal --very nice supermarket find. "JC" means Judges Commendation -- I believe it is used for unusual or distinctive orchids that don't fall into the usual grading system. I'll defer to the experts who may have actually had an orchid awarded, however . . .
SuperMarket!!! oh wow! only $10!! bigger WOW!
nice find :P (i'm jealous)
Nice find, Christian!
Yup, Sadie, you're right on! In the case of Sunsplash, they liked those peloric orange edges on the petals.
It is a cute one!
Very good find!
Looks beautiful, but if it isn't labeled 'Sunsplash', it's a bit irresponsible to label it as such based on a quick flower comparison. Other growers may disagree, but keep in mind that 'Sunsplash' is a single individual from a pod of close to a million seeds, thousands of which were probably grown into plants and sold (often for $10 at a supermarket). 'Sunsplash' was a particular plant whose qualities were superior to all these other thousands, even though all of their flowers were probably very similar, and might appear identical in photos. Even though its flowers look remarkably similar, you can't arbitrarily assign an ID. Only plants known to be genetically identical to 'Sunsplash' should be labeled as such. Please don't be offended, I'm not trying to be mean. But please be responsible in naming and IDs, for the sake of future growers =)
I have a question, if one plant from a flask is named then what are the others called ? Gin
