    Default Talumnia Popoki

Talumnia Popoki (Tol. puff x Tol. Phyllis Hetfield) is another cool little plant that grows well on a mount. This one was mounted with a tiny bit of spag and tied in place with mono-filament. I really like the color on this one. This was another entry in last weeks orchid society monthly judging competition. Enjoy.

No, this is not my plant. I wish I could take credit for it. It was an entry in our orchid society monthly judging. It belongs to a member of my society. He should get the credit. I just snapped the sad little photos.

Keep toying with trying one of these if I find one that has colors which really grab me, but though I know they like ot dry out between waterings, I worry that I wouldn't keep it moist enough [daily watering ain't happen'].

Actually, don't water it and don't pot it. Just mist it every morning, and it should be fine. I've got about three right now, although one is an orchid that I'm holding onto for my mother. They are so dainty! They hate to be potted. Right now, I have them actually just sitting on top of the pots so that they get the benefit of good aeration, but they still have the moisture from the medium, the clay pots, and the humidity tray below. I'm planning to mount them, though. When you mist them, make sure you mist the pot as well. Lots of warmth, light, and high humidity. If anyone is in the St. Louis area, the Botanical Gardens has several varieties of Tolumnia at the orchid show going on through March 11. One should be similar to the photo above, and the other that I have should be a lemony yellow. No pics yet! We'll have to wait until they bloom again.

ETA: Love the second photo, BTW! Really shows off the daintiness of the blooms.

The equitants have such great colors!

Pavel, PM me if you want to be tempted. I buy from an online nursery with a decent selection of these guys.
