Thanks all, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Kerry, I got mine as a one year old keiki in 2000.

My avatar came from this noid Phal.

Patience really is a virtue when it comes to spectacular displays.

You said that this old gal had finally thrown up a double spike, how long did it take to flower from Keiki-hood?

    Oh my God! Wonderful!

I must ask you something... Should I bring my phal in greenhouse? Here in Montenegro the summer is coming. In greenhouse humidity is very high, but also the temperatures (over 40 C in summer)... Can phal hold that conditions? Is it too warm for it?

Kerry, the keikis will bloom in their first year even if they are still attached to their parent. Mine produce spike on its first off the mother but I didn't let it bloom.

Aleksa, summer in HK is also very hot, but its also very wet, lots of rain, and mine enjoys being outside all summer and through winter unless temp goes lower than 50F. I suggest you can leave yours outside under a shade, preferably under a tree (its how the natives grow it in Philippines), if its inside the g/h it has to have good air flow.

Kerry, here's a keiki from the 7 years old plant, this one blooms last year while still attached to the parent and again this year as an independent. I'm pushing this to its very limit just to see how much can it take.

I remember LJA did the same experiment way back, I wonder what happened to it?

I think we finally cut it off and gave it away to a friend.

    Cheers,

Well it really is a truly impressive plant.

I have seen a few for sale online in the UK, and I may well try to make it one of my next buys... assuming that all goes well with my existing plants over the summer. It could be that I will convert myself to species, but I am not sure that the conditions in my flat would really lend themselves to most species.

That is beautiful! I have a little one too and would be happy with a show half as lovely as yours! Thanks for sharing it...
