    This is a sore subject. That $%#@%@ plant keeps putting up spikes but no buds or blooms. Last weekend I cut off 13 spikes. (I left 2 or 3 because I just could not make my self cut all of them off). IT was weird because the spikes had a funny smell that I had not noticed before, but it is not like I cut off spikes very often. I will check it this weekend and see what the heck is going on with it now. It is light green, so it is getting enough light. The water and fertilizer is normal for a phal, but I cannot get it to go to bud.

    Cheers,
    BD

    Oh--poor Bruce! This is not the outcome we all expected when you brought it home from that meeting! I'll bet Gin is right and it will bloom when things get truly tropical in your greenhouse.

    In the words of our Bard:

    It's green leaves held with majesty,
    Yet perhaps a little mockingly?

    It's roots are green and fill the pot,
    There's not the slightest hint of rot!

    I lavish on it all my care,
    The finest water, food and air!

    Yet another year and still no bloom,
    Now should it go, to make some room?

    Then softly to myself I say;
    I really can't lament this way.

    For though I have no flower show,
    And least I got the @#%!@ thing to grow!!!

    I cut off most of the spikes! I wish someone would have told me this sooner. I have had the darn thing since August 06 and it has had spikes on it since then. Some of the spikes I cut off had leaves starting on them too. I want blooms, not keikis.

    Cheers,
    BD
