    Default my harlequin phals

I rarely post my phal photos but I feel like showing some harlequins.
Our first harlequin phal actually came from a grocery store suprisingly. Its Phal Yu Pin Pearl that my mom bought and cares for it, and it has not stopped blooming for a long time.

It's technically not its best display, since the flowers are a too crowded but it has been blooming for a long time on a branching spike. I'm just happy because it is so cheerful looking right now. One thing I have never seen before on another plant is a single node on the spike sending two branches, and this plant has two nodes doing that.
A new spike will definitely give a better display. Perhaps more light will help space the blooms out better?
I've tried to pollenate this Yu Pin Pearl with a spotted one, and also a self pollenate, but both pollenations were rejected.

And I have one as a first blooming seedling. Phal Haur Jin Star. I had two other harlequin potentials but they just turned out normal. The blooms on this one is much smaller and waxier texture. The plant is compact so far. I hope the second blooming will give larger blooms.

And Phal Taisuco Glory 'Ming Leopard' isn't quite a harlequin but I like it (and it was only $10). The first blooming of this mericlone.

Perhaps I should try to cross the first two together to look for large yellow harlequins. I don't know if Yu Pin Pearl will reject again, she doesn't seem to want to be a pod parent, and I am thinking Haur Jin Star is too young to be the pod parent. Or maybe I should cross the last two together...

Phals are my special favorites. I love the creamy waxy looking flower, just because it's a little different.

Lovely, Fren! I have a noid harlequin and it's one of my favorites. They are such cheerful blooms. The cross of 'Star' and 'Ming Leopard' is intriguing. Thanks for sharing.

They're all terrific Fren! I also am drawn to the first one. How can you not love a plant that wants to bloom that much?
