This is one of my favorite Phal species and it is in bloom again. Blooms are quite fragrant, smells like lilac to me.

Traci - I want to know what it smells like to you - I'm not sure I trust Pete's sense of smell!

    - Just kidding you Peter, you know I just love lilacs (they tie w/ the hydrangeas for my fav non-orchid flowers - but I guess the scent of the former would win out, no?) - I might just start wanting one of these if they really smell that great!

Smell is in the nose of the beholder! To me, they smell like lilacs and schilleriana flowers smell like fresh roses.

How many blooms do you expect from this Phal species, Pete? I really like the radiating stripes on the bloom.

    Cheers!

Thanks, Bruce! I don't know how many will bloom on a spike but the spikes keeps on blooming forever and this plant has about 6 spikes still producing more buds.

The one that was in bloom was wonderful. I think Pete is right, it smells like Lilacs.

Beautiful phal. Peter. That is probably my favorite pahl species , perhaps tied with phal. belina. How large are the flowers? I'd love to see a whole plant pic!

Matt, the flowers are 2.5-3" wide. Here is another picture with plant and flower. The fragrance is even stronger today, very nice and pleasant lilac like! Love it!
