    Hi !
I think your dumpster hunting is great. If there were any around here I'd probably do the same. There is one small greenhouse I visit often that has a "yard sale" in Sept. She sells orchids that didn't sell when in bloom for $3. and $4. each. Last year I got 5 Catt's at $3. each and they all needed dividing. So that worked out quite well. The divisions are all doing well and I expect a lot of new growth this summer.
I finally met the associate that tends the plants at a box store (a 100 mile round trip for me) and asked her what happened to the "left overs." She said it was against store policy to mark them down so they were thrown away. What a shame.
Like you, I'm really into Phals. although I'm quickly running out of room!!

While I love the phals because the flowers have such staying power, I am looking to paph's and catts and any other orchid with large beautiful flowers....that I can grow and not kill which places some limitations on me, not the plant!!!!!
