Actually, Bikerdoc, I haven't been able to view any of the photos you uploaded on your other recent posts, have they disappeared or is it just me?
    Hi Kerry,
Hopefully Bruce will see this and help to straighten out the problem. Bikerdoc's pictures just aren't to be missed. He has some of the prettiest phals we have ever seen and his photo skills are top notch.

They are showing here and are still on the server. It must be a setting in your browser, Kerry. Please clear the cache of your browser and make sure you are using the latest version of Fire Fox or if you use IE, make sure your security settings allow you to view images from RVO. If you are accessing the forum from a proxy server, you will not be able to view any images on the forum. Another reason may be you are accessing the forum through a RSS feed instead of directly by server request. All Images are disabled in the RSS feeds due to bandwidth expenses. If you have actually seen an image on the site proper, and then visit the RSS feed, you will see the images. You first have to download them from RVO for that to work.

The best bet is to simply clear out your browser's cache and access the forum at: http://www.rv-orchidworks.com

Please let me know if this doesn't solve your problem. Bikerdoc's phals are very nice!!

    Cheers,
    BD

Ok, it's not all pictures as I am currently looking at Onecofatman's pictures of his bulbophyllumin the "Need Help Please" post in the Ask the Senior Grower's forum. It appears to be the pictures that are attached but not placed within the post, but just left to show at the end. Does that make sense? I haven't done the other stuff yet, looking at the cache, as it's 6.45 am and I am trying to wake up with a big mug of tea... any fiddling with the computer may result in disaster!

I should have just stayed in bed this morning, but work calls....

I bet that is what it is. If a person just uploads a photo to a post, but does not actually place them in the post, then they are put at the base of the post by default. Some browsers will not download those attachments automatically. This is a setting also. If this is what is happening, you should see a link to download the attachments much like you would if your email provider blocks automatically showing attachments. Should be an easy thing to fix in your browser settings.

    Cheers,
    BD

Oh dear, I'm still having problems. I have downloaded firefox in an effort to see if it's a problem with my IE settings, but am still not able to see the images - this is very sad! I have checked the firefox settings and it should download images automatically, and I have cleared the cache etc.

I seem to be having a couple of differnt problems, as I have tried looking at Bruce's posts, like this one ...
    http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...eya-bloom.html
However, the image does not open, but there is a list of the image file. When I right click and select view image I am redirected to an anti leeching page, and get the following message:

We sorry, only visitors and members of the RVO OrchidTalk Orchid Forums are allowed to view our attachments. As a courtesy though, the link to the post containing the attachment is provided below.

Click here to visit the post with the attachment.

Leeching from the forum is not permitted to stop bandwidth abuse. Only direct clicks from the thread containing the attachment will display images and files correctly. All attachments are viewable by visitors to RVO (you are not required to register).

So does this mean that it seems to think that I am not logged in? I know I haven't been around much recently, am I being punished???

This is very curious, as originally my problem viewing images was with one of Bikerdoc's threads, however on another thread e.g: http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...ite-girls.html and I can see all the pictures fine, but there are still threads out there with boxes at the bottom entitled attached images, but with nothing in them (for me to see that is)

I think I need help, can you tell me if the problem with your images and the problem with the attached images is likely to be the same problem, and if so, where in firefox are the settings that I can change, as going via tools/ options/ content it seems to be quite happy with me dowloading images.

Anyway, Bruce I know you are really busy with your trip coming up, but I thought i'd mention it as I haven't seen much point in logging in if I can't see what people are talking about! Whine over now.

    Thanks a lot,
    lonely in London!

    Hi Kerry,

Now I know what is happening! There is only one way to see the message you quote above. If you are seeing the 'anti leeching' statement, then it is not your browser, it is your internet provider (the way you are allowed to access the internet.)

Because your internet provider is downloading our site to a different server and then serving it back to you (instead of letting you access our server directly,) you are unable see the attached images. You must access the server directly and not through a proxy.

If your service provider is a proxy, there are many sites that you will not be able to 'actually see' as designed. If you access the internet from a different location, using a different provider or simply use a non-proxy provider from your same location, you will see the difference.

    Cheers,
    BD
