    Default Phal schilleriana v purpura

I posted a uery regarding the name of this recently. Thought I'd post a follow-up pic of the plant. I love what I believe is a white picotee....but maybe it is just my old eyes playing tricks on me......

I don't believe this is a schilleriana var. purpurea. It looks like a hybrid of some sort to me. (Maybe mislabeled?)

    Clint,
Yes, it may be a hybred. And just because the leaves are mottled like Phal schilleriana doesn't mean much other than some of its genetic background came from one of the mottled-leaved species. I've seen pics of purpurea and they are a deeper hue of purple/pink....so when I posted the original pics of this plant someone suggested it was
    v. purpurea.....

You are right. The mottled leaf trait in Phals is recessive...several nice primary hybrids with philipensensis (sp?), stuartiana, or schilleriana still maintain the beautiful mottled leafs.

I think your plant does have a slight white picotee around the edge. Whatever it is, it is still a lovely plant...

    Hi,
I think Clint may be right, I think your first pic was from a further distance. The close up does show more of a hybrid infulence.

nice one there. i agree it's a hybrid. My schilleriana var. purpurea has light pink blooms and fragrance, but they don't last very long
