This amazing thing is glaucophylum 'Oz' X sanderianum 'Jacob's Ladder'. This is the only division we have left; the other three from the same plant have already been sold, so this one's a keeper!

Default My attempt at the "Peter Phen Glamshot"

The sun started peeking out and, after reading Peter's tips on how he took his photographs, I tried something similar. This pic is what happened. It seems my camera wants to balance the background's lighting with the foreground's, but since the background is so dark, it winds up overexposing the foreground. I know there's a way to change this (at least, there is on my film SLR), I just haven't figured out how to do that yet. The "Auto" setting is just too temptingly easy to keep using....

So, I guess that my fist step toward Peter's picture quality is, "LEARN HOW TO USE THE BLEEDIN' CAMERA."

    Ya think?????

    Here's the photo.....

    :check:

Ok, I read the camera's instruction book and learned how to make it determine exposure values from what's focused at the center of the viewfinder alone and not the edges.

Heheh. Next time the sun's out and I have a few moments...
