    Default Phal hybrid

This Phal hybrid was given to me about 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not into Phal hybrids and I was going to give it away when I noticed the blooms were wonderfully fragant so I kept it. This pic was taken a few months ago.

Very well grown! I actually got a phal recently for my mom solely for the fragrance (although it's a nice orangish Sara Gold type)...I haven't come across much fragrance in the striped phals--what would you describe it as?

To me, the flowers smell like my Phal schilleriana, the fragrance is very similar to fresh roses. That was the reason why I kept it but it is very large and taking up lots of space which I can easily grow a few more Paphs and Phrags instead.

I live candy striped phals! And it smells too? added bonus. Funny what you think you DON'T want until you discover it is fragrant.

Very nice, Pete. The blooms "present" in a very attractive way. Bet you could have gotten a ribbon if you'd have shown it...

Thanks! There were actually two spikes in bloom. I like it because of the fragrance.

Would you happen to know the cross, or is it a NOID?

It did come with a label and it says:

Dtps (Minho Stripes x Leopard Prince) . She said she bought it from boxstore or Lowe's or one of those big chain places, I don't remember exactly.

Heather, you asked for a pic of the Phal, so here it is. It is quite big, taking up a lot of valuable Paph/Phrag space but the blooms are fragrant.

Nice growing, Pete! Those leaves are SO glossy and beautiful! Just luscious! Even if it is a Phal!
