Default Bulbophyllum campanulatum

This guy just bloomed this morning. Very exciting!

It's a mini-Bulbo, but not one of the micro-minis. For perspective, that's a 2" or 2 1/2" pot.

I'm vaguely suspicious of the ID. It doesn't look like the only pic I've ever seen of this species, but one data point isn't very good evidence. Maybe I'll send the pic to Jay Pfahl, as this is a species he doesn't have listed yet. Actually, that's a good idea. I'll do that.

Anyway. Here's a close-up, which shows off the crystalline structure in the morning sun:

And here's a pic showing the whole plant.

It's a vigorous grower, and a cute little thing. No scent that I've noticed yet, but my nose was pretty stuffed up this morning. I'll be trying again later.

Oh, and as with pretty much all the pics I'll ever post here, pollen is available for trade. Just LMK!

– Sue.

I forgot to post back . . .

. . . I smelled it again this afternoon and got a scent this time. Not overly strong, but the smell is most definitely that of celery seed. Not an unpleasant scent, but not exactly flowery either.
