Honestly, I think I am going to have to live vicariously through your photographs on this one. Way out of my budget.

Peter, I attached a picture of a young plant of Gower Ramsey that my mom bloomed last year. This is the ubiquitous one at HD that produces scads of flowers no more than an inch or so across, 1.25" max. I am not an oncidium expert but do recall seeing Sweet Sugar flowers that were similarly-colored and shaped but much much larger, at least 2" across.

$20,000? A mere pittance! Although I hope that's for a BS division and not for a little growth pulled off. If I had that kind of money to throw around, however, I would be wary of the lack of crosses made with that clone...

    Thanks, Jason.

I agree that they do look quite similar. I was told that Growers R. has larger flowers but I don't know and just assumed that mine was a Growers also since the person who gave it to me just randomly plucked a label from a different plant. So, I guess the plant will remain a Sweet Sugar/Growers Ramsey.

I just checked that guy's website (Canadian) and he had just recently updated it. His prized sanderianum single growth divisons are on sale for $19,999.00 He says no financing. He did mention that the same plant later bloomed with even longer petals. Here is the link:

Pete, yours is definatley a Sweet Sugar, I had a Gowers Ramsey and the blooms are much smaller than Sweet Sugar, also the spikes are shorter on Sugar and it is a more compact plant. My Gowers spikes would get 3 feet tall!!

Thanks, Gilda! I don't know much about Oncidiums, so Sweet Sugar it is.
