    Jason,

I love your princeps, very different and alien looking and I like that! I heard that princeps has the largest flower in the genus, is that correct?

I was thinking in the shower this morning - I forgot to mention that I chose both of my masdies because they are the warmer growing varieties. Those pics are nice! Great bright colors.
Mine is a little more open today. Not quite halfway. Maybe today or tomorrow it will be fully open.

Thanks guys. Pete, I've only seen one or two each of ayabacana and macrura, and a handful of princeps, but it seems that princeps has the largest of the bunch (10-12"). However, the form appears to be better and more symmetrical with the former two species, again based on limited experience. Many if not most princeps clones will hold their sepals at some angle to each other, and not straight up and down. Mine likes to hold its lateral sepals slightly bent backwards, although once in a while a flower will be more or less "fully extended".

Well, it is open a little more this afternoon. I got whiff of a fragrance, that to me smelled a bit like wintergreen. Sorry to bother everyone w/ my little updates all the time! I'm excited!

    Heather,

I hope you can post an updated photo soon. I like all the updates. I did not realize that they had fragrance. We have a tiny one that is in bloom all the time. I will have to see if it has any smell. It must be cool growing because it likes to live next to the cool cell.

    Cheers!

I'll take a pic in the a.m. for you Bruce!
It won't be fully open though. I was told it was quite fragrant. And that it was a warmer grower! So, who knows! So far so good though!
