    Default Paph Macabre Pie

I received this for Mother's Day....it lives up to its name as it is very 'Macabre' with its sunken pouch and droopy top...it did have 2 blooms which I guess was good..only a "Mother" could love this one!

That's very cool. I've never seen one whose petals looked so chunky with raisin spots!

    Hi Gilda,

That's a very beautiful flower you have there. I love the bordeaux hue, along with the green accent above the pouch. BTW, is that your backyard in the background? I live in crowded southern California and no one has a lush field like that for a backyard! How I envy you!

    Aww Shucks,
I know you all are just saying that to be nice....cause it is one ugly (macabre) looking paph! Thanks though!

    Nancy,
Yep, that is our 'Ponderosa'. We are fortunate to have around 5 acres. An acre on each side and the rest behind us.

We have lived here 32 years and use to have cattle back there, but now we let a neighbor run his horses on it.

We have 3 goldfish ponds nearby, lots of flowers, birds galore, frogs, and humminbird feeders hung outside my growing area.

I call it my little piece of heaven on Earth! I may have to take a few piccies and show you city slickers what you are missing.

    I'm not a mom, but I've never seen a vinicolor I didn't like...

Is that one bifloral? That's a nice genetic trait for a mottled-leaf paph to have, if you ask me...
