The yellow star acknowledges donations of 15.00 dollars up to 49.99 and the Purple Cattleya Orchid acknowledges donations of 50.00 and over. The symbols will remain next to the member's user name for three months. If that member donates again within the three month time period, the second contribution date takes precedence and the icon could change to reflect the new donation.
