Orchid Forum Contest
Hi folks,
It is time for another contest. It is easy to win. Write an article for our library on any of the topics below and you get entered into the contest. The best articles in each area WINS! That means that we could have multiple winners. Take a look at the prizes:
International Winners:
Connected U.S. Winners:
Phal Gold Fusion ***** Enc. ambigua ******* Phal Buena Cerise Stars Patricia
I wish we could send orchids to the international winners, but due shipping regulations, we cannot.
So, what do you need to do to win?
Write and publish the best article in one or more of the following areas: - Identifying and eliminating various orchid pests (with pictures of said pests)
- Repotting - what are good roots and what are bad roots - by genus - with pictures, of course.
- Dividing - when and how, by genus.
- Explanation of High, medium , Intermediate and Low light, in terms a layperson can understand... Things like - can take full sun, can take early morning sun, no direct sun but really bright light, etc., etc.
Each article should be accompanied by good, clear, photographs that help illustrate the information you are providing. Articles should contain 100+ words and be written within the time span of this contest. They of course must be your own work.
Contest Starts: Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - 12:01 a.m. CST
Contest Concludes: Wednesday, August 1, 2007 - 12:01 a.m. CST
You may enter in multiple categories. And in the end, everyone here in our community wins because we have filled the article library with good, helpful, information from members who know. Help grow your Orchid Forum --Enter today!
Good luck!
Cheers,
BD

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

How are the articles developing? Still lots of time, but do let me know if you need help with formating or using the article software.
Cheers,
BD

If we need any instructions on the stores NOT to go to, I could do a whole paper on this one local place. Sick, unhealthy looking plants full of bugs are everywhere there! It's sad.....

I took a bunch of photos of different roots (durring repot/root checks) ... but now I just don't know what to do with them... nor do I have the proper motivation just now... Maybe later.

Hey, BD? Can you help me out please? I tried to write an article for the contest, but I'm having trouble with any photo names starting with the letter D....
The code of [inline:.... um.. yeah the : + the D at the beginning of the photo turns into ... which is all well and good, but it doesn't show my photo...
Could you help me out?
Thanks!

Hi,
The easiest way to fix it is to rename your photo. Or you can use the "noparse" BB code. IE: [ 'noparse '] your code [ '/noparse' ] (without the spaces and the " ' ".) This can get confusing though. I would simply rename the photo to photo1.gif, photo2.gif, etc...
Cheers,
BD

We have two winners in our July Orchid Article contest. John (wetfeet101b) and Sara (Shaydra). Since John submitted his article first, he gets first choice of the plants. Please, both of you, PM me your choice and thanks for the wonderful additions to our orchid forum's article library. With information like this, we are all winners! With your PM, please include your mailing address!
Cheers,
BD
