Orchid Fantasies
What is your fantasy greenhouse, if you haven't already built it?
Right now, mine is round: the lower walls are thick, built with wine-bottles laid into cement and the upper part is a geodesic dome. I think the floor may be brick or flagstone, with a fountain in the middle.

That sounds like a great GH, Denise. I just hope you keep the fountain small so you have lots of room for your orchids! heheheh...
Cheers,

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Have you seen the remake of "When a Stranger Calls"? You know the atrium in the center of the house with the birds, misters, and the little bridge and stream? Well...someone stole my dream...

ooh, mine too! Actually, this being a "fantasy", I can make it as big as I want, so there will be plenty of room to walk around the fountain and tend the orcchids in the outer circumference...
In fact, to accomodate different types, I would have a string of geodesic greenhouses interconnected with walkways...
And why not incorportate an atrium into at least part of it? And a koi pond, too?

Heated water under a canopy string out among the tops of the domes, and plastic curtains hanging down to help enclose the heat....
Oh, here is another fantasy greenhouse, completely different stylem, for mild climates:
plant four citrus trees in a square formation and prune & train their branches to form a canopy, then arrange the orchids underneath and hanging from the branches...
