    Default Greenhouse Kit Ordered Today

Well I took the plunge and ordered my new greenhouse today. It is a Gothic style 14x24. with 8mm twin wall pollycarbonite sheets It will be here in 2 weeks. I have my fingers crossed that the weather will be nice enough to start putting it up soon after. Had I read the post on greenhouse feaver I may of had second thoughts. The kit includes heaters and fans. Farm Tech e-mailed me the instructions and they look like I need help. It says two people can put it together in a couple of days with simple tools. The instructions say you need a lift or a scaffold to put it up with and the list of tools is a mile long.

I know a good handyman that is out of work that I will hire. I think he has some of the tools I will need as well.

You don't know how long and hard it has been to get the blessing of my better half. I have tried doing this on the cheap and have had 3 home made greenhouses fall with the weight of snow. This one will withstand 3 ft of snow on it. I never used one year round till this one I am going to put up now. I don't have a lot of vices so I will indulge myself. It is only my kid inheritence anyway.

I thought about having a greenhouse for a while, but so far it's still just a thought... Good luck with the construction and have fun fill that house!

You just need a couple sections of scaffolding that you can roll around or move, tools are basic tools.

When you get it lay all the parts out in groups of the same name and the order you need to put them up and LABEL THEM .

We put the same greenhouse at a friend of mines farm he grows tabbaco plants in it. We took a couple days but until we figured out the parts and where they go we wasted a day.

Be very sure your foundation is perfectly level and square before you attempt to start. A very small amount out and things dont like to fit. You your wife and a neighbor can put it up.

This made me laugh out loud and smile. My dad always says to me when I am worrying about money and spending something that I have saved that I should remember his philosophy: "I don't drink, I don't smoke, and typically don't spend any money on myself. So, what is the problem with getting something I really need that will ultimately make me a happier person?" I have to agree with his reasoning. Go for it, Larry! It will make you happier and help you to enjoy your orchids even more. And isn't being healthy and happy one of the more important parts of life anyway?!

I am so excited to see the process and final product of your greenhouse. Best of luck!

    Cheers,
    BD
