If price is not an issue, I'd go with double-walled, corrugated polycarbonate. It's lighter, easier to work with (cuttable, bendable), and it will provide far more insulation than safety glass. It's the stuff that's covering the GH here.

I agree with Louis. I have Poly on mine and the new one will have poly as well. I prefer the poly that difuses the light as well. It keeps the GH bright and the plants don't fry.

The insulation on Poly is much better and you will save on the heat bill.

I used twin wall polycarbonate on mine...I started with the frame from a temporary shade canopy, like people use for their boats or at flea markets...and then added purlins and covering...It's working great...Here's some pics of when it was still in progress...crammed wth plants now...

You made a good choice, I think, Steve.

Catfan, that looks like a great setup!

    Thanks-

I've been very pleased...Like I said, it is packed now, and I've bought another frame to start on an addition. I used 1-1/4" galv. pipe (used for top rail of chain link fences) for the horizontal members, and to construct the greenhouse benches. There are all kinds of inexpensive chain link fence connectors that fit the 1-1/4" pipe, and I've also used them to make some really great frames for our OS show staging...

    Later-

    c.
