    Default change lighting in bud?

Hi all! Its starting to get a bit cooler out and I need to move some plants indoors soon. I need to provide some of these with more light than I am currently using and want to go from two t12 flourescent bulbs to four t5 or t8 bulbs. All of my paphs are either in bud or sheath and are under the current t12 lighting. Should I be concerned about making that sort of change in lighting at this point? They seem to be doing really well and I don't want to jinx it by pampering the others that COULD stay outdoors if they really had to. Pics of my new found paph love will come soon.

Jason, if its not broken don't fix it. I would leave the paphs where they are. If you already have the T-5's, I would think about if any of the plants outside require more light, those would be the ones that would benefit from the T-5's higher light output. Thats just my opinion. Have Fun,Rich

Thanks for your response Rich! The dilemma is that the ones that I need to bring in DO need more light and would have to go onto the shelf with the paphs. Just worried that the increased light might hurt the paphs somehow.

I don't grow under lights, but I would think that if the paph is already in bud, it would only speed up the process. A vendor friend of mine would put his budded plants under lights just before orchid shows to force the buds open sooner. I am not sure what brightness or temp, but if heat is not an issue, then you should be alright moving them into brighter light. JMHO - others may disagree.

    Cheers,
    BD
