My containers are all self made since I cannot find them here nor can I afford to buy them online
I use transparent containers used usually in kitchen, transparent so I can check the level of the fluid, and depending on the orchid and the type of hydroponics I drill diferent number of holes
I will post some photos tomorrow if you would like to see my improvisations

Thanks! I considered making my own, but I haven't been able to find the containers I had in mind either haha. I think Ziploc makes some that are the right proportion for what I want...

Kitty - I'm very impressed with your restraint, and I'm so happy your orchids seem to be doing well. The spaces you have for them sound great. I'm downsizing my collection because my current apartment is getting too little light this summer (I moved a lot of my orchids out last summer, but I can't do that here with my paphs and phrags - too hot and too much sun) - and Phillip and I are pretty much pre-occupied with his health right now. If you don;t see much of me on OT for a little while, it's because of that.

A much simpler way is to use ordinary pots, and stand them in a tray of water/nutrient. I have a lot oforchids like this - maybe 50 or so trays....

I like this idea too, but I do like being able to see into the container easily I'm paranoid about root rot since I've lost a few that way from standard pots

I really do not understand what all the fuss about LECA is about. In the picture I just took, you'll see an orchid that has been in it over a year & a half. It is watered once a week... Please note the vigorous new growth...Am I missing something here? Betty
