I now have 2 in bark mix, one in paph mix and one in CHC. Too soon to tell you which is better for me. Gotta agree about the roots twining through the mesh. That could certainly be a future headache. I wouldn't go ANY bigger than a three inch pot and don't bury the p-bulbs under the media. They may rot otherwise.

I seem to be the oddball. I use a plastic net basket pots and lava rock for mine. When it outgrows the pot, I will drop mine into a larger pot, no repotting necessary. I like that I can water more frequently without fear of root rot. It is especially nice during the summer, when it lives outside, and we get a solid week or two of rain. In the past, when I grew in bark, this was always a disaster for my orchids. I've had mine, a young plant, since last May, and it has grown very well this way. The roots seem healthy when I gently move the rock and new growths have begun.

Ah! I didn't consider that! If it is in media that won't go stale, you needn't do anything other than ensure proper moisture levels.

I have a few of this left and i've tried different medium including S/H and they seem to prefer lava rock and sphagnum moss. Never let it dry out completely and do not overwater it. Repot only if its producing roots if not wait until it does.
