Rick we are south of Venice and it got pretty darned cold. I lost most of the new cuttings that were on the trees but the older ones except a phal did fairly well. Is your lot near the water?

Cin, it depends on your idea of close...I have a small freshwater creek at the back of my lot, and I'm about 2-1/2 - 3 miles from the Gulf... too close for hurricans but too far for a sunny warm day...wishing I was there now, 22` and snowing here, with ~24" on the ground.

Doesn't sound like you are close enough to the Gulf to get a micro-climate but you never know. OH BTW they have issued a freeze warning for inland tonight, WHEE !!!!

We had near freeze last two nights, so I brought a lot of them inside. I can't make up my mind if I will move them out this weekend. Who knows when spring will be here.

We are forecast for 39...and for the next week all the little creatures down here will freeze their tail feathers off again. Even the snowbirds have been complaining!

This must be the coldest winter in Fl. in a very long time...I guess I was lucky, when I was down in mid-jan, it was cool but sunny...I hate to think of all the plants that can't come i/s...but maybe also you'll all have such blooms on your o/s orchids, we'll all see such beautiful pictures
