With the fan schedules, its all a matter of trial and error. I have an electronic temp and humidity meter inside the viv. Built for outdoor use. That tells me how low and how high the humidity or temps got overnight. This helps me figure out if the tank is drying out too much, if so, I reduce the amount of time the fan is operating. If the humidity is too high, I increase the fan operation time. Right now, I have it so it runs from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and 10:30pm to 3 am and from 5am to 7 am. When I check it in the morning, humidity has dropped to around 50% or 40% on a dry night. But thats on the driest spot in the viv. The other parts all vary.

have a question - you mentioned that you have a Bufo toad... You do know they can be deadly? Being from Key West where they have become a menace. Kill dogs, cats, birds and even occasionally a small child has been made ill by them, I hear the word bufo and start looking for my hoe, rake, large stick.

Not to fear, Wolf, Tindo's quite well versed in his amphibs.

If memory serves, there are areas in the US where it is necessary to wipe Bufos to give other amphs a chance at survival.

As I recall , they have a real big problem with an imported toad/frog DownUnder ... can't remember which one at the moment.

Yes, this one releases a nasty little liquid if I bother him too much. Nothing that has hurt me yet. I don't touch him often, as my rule is to not touch my amphibians unless I can't avoid it, for their happiness and well being. By the way, he also smells like roasted peanuts.
THis Bufo has grown a bit and is now proving himself to be deadly to my Macodes as he lands on them and breaks the leaf petioles.
