    Default My Orchidarium

[FONT="Palatino Linotype"]Here are some pics of my orchidarium
First a pic of my orchidarium and its sister vivarium to the right.

    Now the orchidarium:

Now for that species list, off the top of my head:

    Macodes petiola (3)
    Ludisia discolor (2) 1 in bud/spike
Phalaenopsis 'Mini Mark' Holm (1) In spike with three buds
Phalaenopsis javanica (1) Its a seedling
    Slc. Barefoot Mailman "Liana" (1)
Slc. Mini Beau (1) in bud/spike!!
    Sophronitis cernua (1)
    Angraecum scottianum (1)
Masdevallia rolfiana (2) Actually just two divisions of 1 plant
    Masdevallia tovarensis (1)
Masdevallia floribunda (3) Divisions from the same plant
    Masdevallia barlaeana (2) Divisions again
    Haraella odorata (2)
    Bulbophyllum dearei (1)
    Kefferstenia tolimensis (1)
Encyclia polybulbon (1) This one is not doing so well.
    Encyclia bractescens (1)
Cischwenfia dasyandra (1) a small kieki from mother plant
and thats all folks. Holy cr*p!! Thats 26!!! I had no idea
I am thinking of putting on a stronger light now that the increas in plants is blocking out more light to the ones in the bottom. I just hope stronger lights don't increase temps too much.
Right now the temps hover between 60 and 78

They looked very nice. Were they standard 20 gallon tanks (tall)?

    That is AWESOME!!!

That is a neat way for people to grow orchids esp if they don't have room outside or if it's too hostile an environment!! Great job!

    Thanks all,
    the tanks are 30inches tall.
These are 20 gallon longs, not talls. So they are much wider.

THanks!! THis one in particular has a green tree frog, Hyla cinerea. And a Fowler's Toad, Bufo fowlerii. The toad is testing my capacity for forgiveness as it is heavy, bulky, and extrememly active. He hasn't dislodged any of the plants or broken any of the buds or spikes. But the moment he does he OUT! Anyway, they will be the only source of fertilzer for the orchids for a while. I will have to remove them for a month if I want to fertilize the tank.

THose are temporary lights for now. THey seem to do the job ok. But I am after some T5 light strips to really lighten the place up.
THose lamps were just lying around at work being unused, so I put them on. Don't know anything about them really.
