I have heard so much about twitter.com and yesterday read an article about it on the NY-Times website. So, I thought I would give it a go and see what happens. LOL. If you 'tweet' you already know how cool this is, if you don't know what 'tweeting' is, check it out. It is not for everyone, but it is fun.

I just started today and before I got the link on our homepage here in OrchidTalk I already had three followers. If you have a twitter account, click on OrchidTalk there and follow our community with updates, etc. Here is the Official Twitter page for OrchidTalk If you don't have an account, it is easy to sign up and free.

I added a new icon that when you click on it, it will allow you to 'Tweet' whatever thread you are reading or posting to, etc... The icon is a little blue bird. It is found at the end of each post just above the post reply button. I made a screen capture below my sig line. My attempt at an arrow points to the new icon. Have fun!

Where do you sign up for your account official twitter page?

No worries! You can sign up at twitter.com.

Nope, but members are welcomed to Private Message each other with information and recommendation for vendors. If you have some time, update your profile page and tell us where you live. Many of us buy orchids online fairly regularly and if we know where you are and what you like to grow, we can make recommendations. Also, be sure to check out the FAQs regarding posting.

How about 'Gin Loves Orchids' or 'Gins Orchids'? Many people just use their full names too. Good luck!

I've had a user name for a long time (eaglssong), but still haven't a clue what I'm doing over there. LOL Actually, I rarely use twitter. Now facebook is a whole other story.

I have followed you bruce so I can see updates the gardening forum I am on uses it and the owner lets us know there if the site is having trouble ( not that OT ever seems to have problems) thats why I signed up my ID on there is playtime8978 or carrie mc, I havent used it very much so far, but will be sure to check in every so often, thank you for getting OT on there.

Thank you Carrie. I was thinking that it would be a quick way to communicate with our members if we ever need to do so. I can post updates about maintenance on the forum there too. I am very new to the 'blogging' scene. If people find this feature useful, then I will continue with it. Might be fun to have a contest for the people who 'follow' OrchidTalk on Twitter. heh.. cool.
