Resizing photos to fit the forum size limits has always caused some trouble for members who did not have image editing software. Now, OrchidTalk has a built in photo editor. This image editor can download your image from your computer or from a URL (you can even create images from scratch.) Once you have your image in the frame, you can edit its size easily.
Here is how it looks:
Here are some step by step instructions:
1. Upload your image (any size) to the OrchidTalk Photo Editor
2. On the top left of the editor, click on the link: Image
3. A drop-down list will appear. Click on the Image Size in the drop-down menu.
4. A pop-up window will appear with with the current size of your image. Here you will need to adjust your image size to fit the forum requirements.
Here is the Attachment Key for our community:
I recommend setting your image size to a maximum of 600 for its largest measurement. So, for example, if your image measured 890 w x 740 H, change the 890 measurement to 600 and your image will now easily fit in the forum.
For those of you who have never used an image editor like this one, I will create a video demo soon.
You can access the new OrchidTalk Photo Editor by following this link.
Enjoy.

Is there a way to have the images automatically resized upon upload? I usually export 1024 pixels wide or tall. Would be easier to just attach those images already and to have them automatically resized server side... Wonder if there is a setting in the forum program or something... I would like to post images but I do not really want to resize all th resized images once again...
When I upload to facebook albums they seem to get automatically resized on the server.

Hi Stefano, at this time it is not possible. If you upload to facebook, you can simply use thewhen posting a photo here and link to the image. No need to upload to the forum as an attachment. Attached images are placed in the file system and can not be automatically re-sized.
To make it easier to re-size images, I have added this online photo editor to the forum. I hope it will help. It seems very speedy. I have posted a step by step demo video on the OrchidTalk Help Video Page for anyone who needs information on how to use the photo editor.

Thanks - linking from facebook would work fine for me. Just I like to automate and not having to resize one by one. Wonder if tehre is a setting or there will be that if a photo exceeds the max size it gets resized on the server. I am not a designer / programmer but I know sometimes there are freeware options on the server that would do auto resizing...
no big deal but i go thru 1000s of images just want to have the least effort
Great ad-on Bruce!
Well Bruce, you've done it again! So simple even I can do it. Thanks for always thinking of new and innovative things to make things better on the forum.
Thanks all, I appreciate the kind words.I hope it is useful. When I saw the editor online, I thought we need that in OrchidTalk. So, with a little effort, we now have it.
