This is one of the monster skinneri I have. This one is very old. It came from my Grandmother's collection and was jungle collected many, many years ago.
For some reason two buds were well advanced of the others. I would wager when in full bloom there will be 50 to 60 blooms.

Huge, beautiful cattleya, Cathy! Looks like you might be doing a re-potting job when it is finish blooming...Does it have a nice fragrance? Thanks for posting this one. Betty
No fragrance, Betty. And thank you!!
It was too big for a pot these days. I just put it in the largest fern pot I could find last year. I guess it will be good to go for another five years. It weighs a ton.
OOOOO That's a big one, now Cathy...
Lovely blooms and GIANT plant!!!
Alex
How incredibly wonderful that you have not only an orchid that is that old but an "inheritance" from your grandmother to boot!
Lovely species, btw.![]()
Plant looks great! I always like to see pictures of the plant (as well as the flowers) to get an idea of appearance and growing conditions.
Another question - does your plant always bloom this time of the year?
WOW what a monstrous yet beautiful specimen !! Your grandmother would be proud of you. Hopefully we can all pass down our ageless plants to someone near and dear.
Cathy that is super huge plant wow I cant imagine how difficult to maintain and support in your garden very beautiful flower.
