Thank you Roy . ( It was Roy was it not, who said in a post a few months ago "you won't flower anceps grown in a pot" ? ).
Whoever it was, led to me taking this plant out of its pot in which it had been growing for 4 years since acquiring it in a Society auction, and never flowering (!) and mounting it on this piece of bark. And here we are ! ( For those who read the original version of this before I edited it - I looked it up in my records after starting this post - my memory was faulty ; I have it correct, now )

It is not yet a good plant. The flowers are small ( surely they "should" be larger than this ? A scant 3 inches, north south ? And more on the spike, too !
But now it has started, maybe I will manage to treat it better, spray it more often, get bigger bulbs, etc. etc. I don't need to go on, I'm sure you have heard it all before. The orchidist's tale is a version of the fisherman's tale. The fisherman says It Was this big - holding his hands as far apart as he can. The orchidist says It WILL BE this big....
Still, its all good fun, isn't it.
P.S. If I got it wrong about Roy, I shall have to crawl and apologise.......but I am sure Roy could have said it, anyway.

Having done a bit of research since posting, it now seems that only two flowers this size is well within the normal range to be expected. But I atill expect to do better in the future.
It may be that the varietal name should be Sanderiana, but that is a minor thing. I have alsofound that it needs a hard winter rest , so giving it increased amounts of water has to wait a bit.

The spike may get longer Geoff but I find 2 flowers to be pretty typical.

Geoff or someone, can you tell me what the yellow "mottling" is on the leaves in the picture above. I have the same issue on some of my cattleyas and don't have a clear answer as to why.
