A hybrid between macrophyllum and atroviolaceum. The best flowering so far - about a dozen spikes, with an average of 10 flowers on each. But the flowers not as good individually as previously and won't last as long ( judging by everything else in the greenhouse - feeling the heat and not liking it. We in UK have not had it as hot as our near neighbours in France etc - where 47˚ C was reached a couple of days ago - here , with the cooling effect of trillions of gallons of seawater a mile away, it got up to 28, but in my greenhouse it was 40. Not good.
Fortunately that was a one day only heatwave ( about the usual for Uk) and now the garden temperature is back to 23, and the greenhouse not much over 30. But some damage has been done.
Actually I think my increased light levels everywhere are placing the plants under some strain, and I intend to change my practices elsewhere - use a portion of moss in the compost for example, to try and keep them a bit moister between waterings. But thats for the future.

Yes, the heat is a problem in Europe at the moment. But nevertheless the dendrobium is somehow very unique with this greenish blossom and the spectacular veined lip. I like it very much.

Opposite seasons & my plant has a spike just opening. It tends to flower at any time for me, more spikes of course when the proper flowering season is here. Its a great Dend to have. This is very well flowered Geoff.
