They are very cold hardy relative to orchids. I'm in North Florida where we usually get a week or two below freezing, and a few days near single digits. They are planted in the ground and flower evey year. I hope that helps.
The two irises in this old discussion are of different genera. Bruce's neomarica replicates via rhizome, rather than bulbs. They are cold hardy down to about freezing, if well protected.
