I have an encyclia cordigera about to bloom for the first time(I have been waiting a long 5 years). Took a lot of coddling and climate tweaking but in the end it decided to produce buds after a brutal division and repotting --go figure.I read somewhere that encyclias can bloom for years on the same flower stock. Does anyone know if this is true?

Your E. cordigera will not bloom from old flower spikes, it will bloom only from new spikes on new pseudobulbs (once they reach maturity) as long as it have the optimal culture conditions.
