Very nice plants Diane. Now you can enjoy flowers too. Good care for your plants always rewards you.

I am continually humbled by my orchids, who seem intent at times at making a fool of me... well, a bigger fool than I already am!! A couple of weeks ago everyone was posting their lovely species phal photos and I bemoaned the fact that I could not get mine to bloom.
Then came the neo photos, and I again complained that mine grew like crazy, but no flowers...
Well:
Phal violacea
Neo. Fal. Casper the Friendly Ghost (spikes just starting)
I know all the neo fanatics will be aghast that these are not potted traditionally, in sphag. I've killed every one I left in sphag....
Very nice plants Diane. Now you can enjoy flowers too. Good care for your plants always rewards you.
Well done, Diane! I grow mine in bark mix and the neo x rhy I grow in lava rock. It is just how you take care of them that matters.
Cheers,

"How to get your orchids to spike"
I thought your plants only spiked or flowered when you went away on a trip?
Welcome Back!!!! (hehe)
congratulations Diane! I'm looking forward to the end results of these... and you will have to describe the fragrance please.
Good job. Now if mine will only spike I will be a happy gal.
woohoo! I think orchids prefer to make you sweat before giving any sort of satisfaction. It's part of the allure.

How to get your orchids to spike
Step 1: Take plant outside and set it next to a large weed or other disposable plant.
Step 2: Take out the weedwacker and summarily obliterate said disposable plant.
Step 3: Give the orchid a "significant look" and tell it .... "That could be you"
Gasp. A whole new side of Pavel!
Now, what if Peanut were to witness that behavior?!
I am in shock! You are a maverick lot! I am a benevolent mother to my children! Then again, I only really started growing orchids seriously this year! I am too "feart" to treat them mean! Let me prune your roses and I would be fine! My phal Gold Vein has sulked for 2 1/2 years! Treated the same as Flarespots that blooms 3 x a year! Trimmed the roots and repotted so I look forward to some flowers! Judi
