This is a discussion on Zygo anyone?? within the Genus Specific forums, part of the Orchid Culture category; I don't see Zygopetalum mentioned much here - so I'm going to ask if anyone ...
I don't see Zygopetalum mentioned much here - so I'm going to ask if anyone grows this genus?
Mine has been in bloom off and on since February - with two new spikes on the way! She's just a NOID, but she gives me confidence
So different looking, and very fragrant ( even though the fragrance is reminiscent of hyacinth flavored bug spray...).

I really like Zygo's but thy do not like me much.
I can keep them alive....... just.
Had a NOID that flowered brilliantly for 6 months & then the decline.
I have Zygo Artur Elle that seems to be making a recovery from loosing all it,s leaves.Have tried lots of ways to grow them but none seem to really suit my conditions.
love those violet-blue lips!
talking to a breeder of them.
Grow cool(down to 0C),shaded(here in new Zealand,50-70% shade)moist all year and feed 1/4 strenght all year as well.I am growing the ones that Im looking after in with the Odonts
I got my first zygo in March for my birthday, and since then it has grown 5 new growths, and is putting out 4 new spikes. I grow mine with my stans, and gongoras. It really seems to like it's situation! It is a Kiwi Geyser Mendenhall. Mine also seems to have that subtle scent of bug spray! It's wierd!
I had a species Zygo a while back, but it didn't like me, I didn't like all the black spotting on the leaves and the brown deciduous foliage. When it croaked, I wasn't too sad. I hear the hybrids are much less fussy. Yours looks good, Sarah!
