I'm not sure what happened as this plant seems very happy, however, one side of the growth has turned brown. Does it look like I will have to wait for a new growth or could it still be good?
Is that the older growth on the plant?
The mature growth is the first one; there is another behind it that is substantially bigger. There is a small nubbin on the left side of the base of the fan that was there when I got it and hasn't done anything. The growth on the right came after the 2nd growth mature but it looks like it stopped doing things and dried out. It's sitting in a tray of water that I top up but I might have to refresh the water more often - you think algae in the water could have done this?
I don't think so Richard. What happens sometimes is an old growth has a couple of eyes. One develops into a new growth and the other one sometimes does not go anywhere. Watch your new growth...once mature the next growth should come from that one.
I just checked at home and the little V shaped growth is on the new growth. The latest growth's leaves is about 25% bigger, so maybe the plant isn't really mature yet.
