Iwanagara Apple Blossom fail again!

Hello!

Hoping someone can give me some advice with my (I think) iwanagara apple blossom .. I bought it 4 years ago, and it has bloomed once and much smaller than when I purchased it. The last 2 years, I have gotten a new growth, with what I assume is going to be a flower... (nefarious music here) and then the center turns black, and I get nothing... and so it goes. It is in a west window, BUT is not receiving direct light (so think very bright, non direct). It is warm year round, but 80's during the summer. I live in the pacific northwest on the water, so humidity is 65% average (I do not have forced air, and I do have a humidity gauge in the the house.)

The plant appears healthy... any suggestions?

Slug possibly? I found one inside the pot as I stood in the dark of night in my greenhouse with a flashlight doing slug hunting. Mine looked just like that thanks to a slug.

I agree it seems like a bug problem. Many of my orchids did this when my home got roach infested awhile back. Slugs, roaches, and cattepillars (i dont think i spelled that right) are the three most common culprits.

Thanks for the opinion - but no. no bugs, no slugs. Indoor only plant, and very close inspection. sigh.:bawl:

I have one that is in spike now, in the last few years not all of the spikes ended up with buds and the buds that did flower were not that great. Hope that this year is different.

I know that Apple Blossom needs a good amount of light to bloom but I can't be sure if that is your problem. Mine usually looks like it's on the edge of being burnt. Good luck with it.

I guess I'll move it into the full light of the window. . And just enjoy the nice looking plant! Then if it blooms, I'll get a nice surprise.

Perhaps too much moisture. Does it get water in the area where the sheath originates?

I'm usually pretty careful, but it could've been splashed :mad: things to keep in mind!
