These small flowers are around 1/4 to 1/3 inch (.6 to .8 cm) from top to bottom. These spikes tend to bloom sequentially over many months, one or two flowers at a time.

Those are definitely strange! Do the hairs keep pollinating insects "trapped" in some way at the flower?

as far as I know, the hairs don't trap anything...although they likely do play a part in attracting pollinators. My guess is that some insect running across those hairs feels a yen to go tiptoeing through the one-lip and pollinating the flower. My guess is, however, nothing more than slightly educated.
