The name of course means "from Sichuan" , which is the name of a place in China. ( I don't know whether you would call it a province. district or whatever - I think it is either part of the larger area - Yunnan, or maybe near Yunnan.)
These are large flowers for a species , probably 11-12cm . A first flowering on a seedling .
The species is not listed as such in the Kew monograph on the genus , although Cym sichuanicum is included in the addenda - listing doubtful (usually because only recently discovered, and little known) species. But then the monograph was published in 2007, and no doubt in preparation for some years before that, and a lot of new species, and info about barely known ones, in China, has accumulated in the years since 2007.
I bought several of the Chinese species from the lady who is now the widow of a well-known German orchidist who set up business in Yunnan, specialising in their orchids, when I visited the South African WOC, and this is the best of them in terms of flower quality . If I can grow it on to a bigger and better plant I think the flowers will still improve.
But, interesting, I think.

Yep, and a great place for food!
Beautiful blooming Geoff! Great photos, are they with the D5600?
Sichuan food is great just be ready for some HEAT, they like things HOT, and it is worth it!
Not the Nikon, taken in the greenhouse with a compact camera Sony Cybershot, which has a 20x optical zoom, but is small enough to fit into my pocket when I am working.
Beautiful and very impressive for a 1st flowering!
Very pretty flower Geoff! And nice photos!
Amazing species and big flowers with beautiful lip I wish I can grow here but impossible to flower it.
Lovely cym. Concur with Zainal.
This pic was taken with the D5600.
