Tell me, Aaron, what exactly does the male flower look like?

This is Catasetum Callosom (sp?). I figured since everyone has a fetish for the ones that look like aliens. Here you go! This is the female flower.

The male flower is brown, and is flatter then the female. It doesn't have that little "pocket" that the female has. These guys are really cool because the males can shoot their pollen up to 8 feet! I am pretty sure that it is more light = female, but can't remember exactly. This particular flower has a wonderful fragrance about it in the morning. Almost like a green apple candy.
The female looks so...puritanical in her head wrap.
The male shoots it eight feet??? Eww...Way too much testosterone!
Julie
Ah! I actually know something about this... (no laughter, please Julie) It is more light = female blossoms. They are working on breeding some that tend to produce more male flowers even in high light since the male blossoms are usually colorful and the females are green.
Well it certainly is very kewl!!!
THis just makes me want to go and see "Fifth Element" again!!!
Laughter...moi? This is all big-time scary! No laughing matter.
I'm now curious as hell what the Fifth Element's about...
Julie
Ok, send this plant to me! I love it!! How cool!
Cheers!
